Welcome to the Community Engagement Core
The FSU Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) and Network for Clinical Research, Training, and Community Engagement Core (NCRT-CE) works closely with a variety of partners, including other universities, government agencies, healthcare providers, non-profits, community leaders, and members. Our Research Community Health Workers (CHWs) have experience in public health and community engagement, helping connect researchers with the community.
We create educational programs based on what the community needs, such as the Learning Series for Community Leaders and Our Community, Our Health Town Halls. These programs aim to strengthen the community’s role in research, share important resources, and provide helpful health information.
NCRT-CE has worked on research projects across Florida, including studies on health and wellness involving people of different ages, genders, races, ethnicities, and income levels. These projects include everything from practical clinical trials to community-based research in rural, suburban, and urban areas.
Meet Our Research Community Health Workers
Our Community Relations Coordinator, Meaghan Sapp, dually serves as a Research Community Health Workers (CHWs) and is dedicated to bridging the gap between academic research and community health. She works directly with community members, organizations, and researchers to ensure that health initiatives are informed by the needs and realities of the communities we serve.
Meaghan possesses a solid foundation in community health with backgrounds in research, clinical support and nutrition education. She is focused on supporting and implementing community health initiatives, particularly those aimed at maternal and child health and behavioral health. Her work as a CHW involves building meaningful relationships with community members, collecting & analyzing data, and helping to create impactful solutions that enhance public health outcomes.
