Does Creatine Monohydrate Supplementation Impact Blood Vessel Health?

Principal Investigator: Paul Baker, PhD

This research examines the possible benefits of creatine monohydrate (CM), a common sports performance supplement, on blood vessel function. Maintaining proper blood vessel function is essential for proper health and a long life. Advanced age and excess weight can all contribute to poor blood vessel health over time. Participants will consume a high-sugar meal before and after 5 days of creatine monohydrate/placebo supplementation and have multiple measures of vascular health assessed.

Who Can Participate:

  • Men and women who are 18-70 years old with a body mass index that puts them into an overweight/obese category
  • Individuals should be residing in the Tallahassee area
  • Not on any blood pressure or glucose-lowering medication
  • Not smoking or vaping

Duration:

  • Two study periods of 11 days with a 4-week washout period

Compensation:
